Clarkia unguiculata Mountain garland This California native is available with either 1" single "windmill" flower shape, or in ruffled doubles, and colors include white, rose, pink, salmon, orange, crimson or very pale yellow. The flowers are held on reddish stems up to 2' tall. Coleus x hybridus Coleus The brilliantly colored foliage (greens, pinks, bronzes, reds, yellows) of this perennial-grown-as-annual make the small flower spikes a distraction. Linaria maroccana Toadflax Red, orange, yellow, or bicolor snapdragon-like flowers rise to a height of 2' over delicate foliage. Lobelia erinus Edging lobelia This dependable, popular bedding plant has delicate, whispy, green or bronze foliage which contrasts with blue-to-violet tubular, lipped flowers. Lobularia maritima Sweet alyssum A wide variety of cultivars is available for this dependable, garden staple, providing a range of colors including white, cream/pale-yellow, pale to deep rose, lavender and purple.
